December 1, 2009 by jordanteschkeI’ve a l m o s t finished my keynote presentation! Just one small bit of a demo to work out and I’m ready to go. I’ll finish that up tomorrow evening and get to bed early as to get everything going wed morning. Got some feedback from peers today about my video that has made me feel quite confident in my work, thanks Girish and Rocky. Almost 3am and need to be in calss at 8:00 so it off to bed.
VIDEO DONE!
November 30, 2009 by jordanteschkeWell it’s done. Made about 5 hours of changes, which overall isn’t too bad considering the over all time involved. I would say I’m quite happy with the results. I thought this project was going to bomb but now I think it’ll be part of my portfolio. Quite different from anything else I’ve done artistically in After Effects or anywhere for that matter.
-Music Track Done!
-Visual Video Done!
-Presentation good start going to get it Done tonight
Going to try and get some good sleep on Tuesday night so I wont pass out while presenting.
Video almost complete
November 30, 2009 by jordanteschkeI would have blogged at 7:30 am as I redered, but my internet connection was down, which it occasionally is and so it’s back on now and here it is, an overview of my last 22h work. I rendered out a not rough… but final!!! draft of my video. Wow, what an intense couple of days in After Effects considering the 22h yesterday I would say i put in a good 60h in the last 3 days. Yes that’s right my behind is permanently marked in my chair, my eyes are seeing things slowly move that are stationary, my spine doesn’t bend any more and I’m not kidding when I say I’m hearing voices that aren’t there…. Don’t worry not the kind of “the devil told me to” kind of stuff just more like quick flashes of people or a person talking. It’s not uncommon for me when I’ve slept soooo little, kind of cool actually. Anyway I really learned a lot about the program for this project:
- Working with more than one viewport at a time.
I was already familiar with this concept from Autocad back in the day and Maya, but After effects views are a bit more difficult (actually something I thing that Adobe could improve apon)
- Lighting and Shaddows.
I was really stuck for a while but thankfully I was working on them early enough to put Google Groops on the job and Bradford had the perfect solution to my problem.
- Sound Keys.
A plug-in from Trapcode, who also makes the famous particular and other great After Effects plug-in’s. I would have liked to do more with it considering the time I put into learning how to use it and setting it up for my project bu the places I did use it I’m very happy with.
- Camera work.
This became much eisier than I’m use to as I became more and more comfortable with the view ports. Really gave a nice look to the fly through of the “stick” people.
Well just a few small technical issues and glitches to iron out now. I’ll have to work on the presentation now, which is usually the easy part for me.
To tired to blog
November 29, 2009 by jordanteschke4:58 am After effects going quite well, but time consuming as usual. All nighter tomorrow night and maybe I’ll be seeing an end to it. Have to get up soon for bible study. Good night

Working on my presentation tonight. I’ll be showing the pannel how to make drum sounds using FM Synthesis. Also I’ll hopefully rough out the video portion of the project. Intense weekend ahead to Finnish the video. I have solid Ideas for the beggining and some for the mid pat but not much for he end. Potentially I might not get to the completed video but I’ll try.
Cheated
November 27, 2009 by jordanteschkeWell I guess all my audio knowledge was outdone by a little work around “Cheat” I ended up just time stretching the HH’s to half speed then put it through the trapcode analyzer and then selected all the key frames it generated and held the alt key down to scale the key frames evenly and it seams to have worked.
Still having trubble isolating
November 26, 2009 by jordanteschkeI’m still working on isolating one part of the rhythm. The High Hats are close together and quick so the spctrum analyzer is still showing it as sor of running together. I’m going to try going back into Ableton (All audio was writen here) and rework the High hat part of the impulse and reduce the decay to like 10 ms and then adjust the Frequency and resonance to try and even out the tone while keeping the amplitude the same.

Thursday 1:30 am I also started working on a Keynote for my presentation.
studio progress
November 26, 2009 by jordanteschkewell there isn’t any time left so I’m working on this thing day and night untill it’s at least something. (that’s why I wasn’t in class this past Monday), I’m having to pick and choose what classes I go to because I can’t do both. I was having a hard time isolating the sound parts to my audio, but since I wrote it I was able to go back and isolate the individual midi information and then render out each sound individually and then bring it into After Effects and then run it through trapcode sound keys to get key frames.
Also I finalized the vocal on Monday. Since I couldn’t get any new material, I’ve used a piece that I had used years ago and just chopped and massaged it well beyond what I was able to do before. Originally It was 34 min. I’ve cut it to about 2:30.
On Tuesday I manually type out the words so that I can incorporate them into my video as kinetic text.
Today, or yesterday now Chris Savoire proof read it for me to give me a hand with the punctuation (it was a big help since I’m terrable at that kind of thing as you can tell if you’ve read this far.)
I’m going to update my blog hopefully every day because it will tell a whole lot more than if I were just to have written. Didn’t have time to work on this project weakly and or I’m going crazy trying to come up with what I’m going to tangibly do for this project.
